Dig Deeper Ministries began in 2011 as a Sunday School class at McEachern United Methodist Church in Powder Springs, Georgia. What quickly became clear was that people have questions, doubts, hopes, and a longing to experience real, deep, and transformative faith.
From the beginning, the heartbeat was clear:
People are not looking for more religion, they are looking for a deeper relationship with God.
To the initial members, Jo and Bob Wagner, Kaye O’Neal, Barry and Gay Caswell, James and Lolita Whittenburg, and others, what we were learning and experienced in our study of Genesis, Exodus, Matthew, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Intertestament Period (famously known as the 400 silent years between the Old and New Testaments) was deep. The name emerged naturally from the fact that we studied and experienced a deeper relationship with each other, deeper connection, deeper knowledge of Scriptures, and a deeper knowledge of Christ. The name naturally emerged from the movement itself:
Dig Deeper.
The name and the ministry is an invitation to not just learn more, but to go beyond the thin shallow surface level, and dig deeper to explore the richness of Scripture, to encounter Christ personally, and experience the kind of spiritual formation that changes everyday life.
